Under the directions of the Project Engineer, designs mechanical and/or electromechanical subassemblies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists Project Engineer in the completion of assigned projects. (Project Engineer develops conceptual design of the general assembly and establishes system requirement. Projects are broken down into subassemblies).

Completes each subassembly design and directs Detailers in providing drawings.

Checks all work and gives to the Project Engineer for approval of each drawing to assure that system requirements are being met.

Works closely with the Project Engineer to solve problems that may arise in the shop or in other areas of coordination.

Responsible for implementations and follow-up of his/her portion of the project after the Project Engineer establishes a course of action to solve a particular problem.

May delegate the responsibility of minor subassemblies to Detailers. Assists as necessary and reviews final work.

Performs a substantial amount of detailing work.

Education, Experience, and other Job Requirements:
Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school plus 2 or more years related experience and/or training.

Desired Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Strong working knowledge of Auto CAD software (such as Mechanical Desktop or other 3D system). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
