We are a fully integrated manufacturing company which takes responsibility for the success of our business and acts quickly to implement new ideas and projects to ensure company growth.We are looking for an inspiring and motivated Purchasing Manager to manage the day to day operations of the Purchasing organization by monitoring costs, overseeing staff in the timely ordering of material and services, and expediting product to achieve company goals. In this role, you will typically:Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and vendors;Implement systems to monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements as well as provide performance feedback to suppliers and vendors;Lead and direct the entire material operation to include material quotes, purchase order placement, and expediting of product to ensure business unit goals are met;Review the status of open requisitions and follow up with staff to ensure timely process of purchasing orders, support weekly production/spares meetings to determine possible delivery issues and to take preventative actions;Communicate daily with Business Units to strategize production requirementsWe require:A Bachelor's degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain Operations, Business Administration or related field (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a supply chain role);At least 5 years of experience in purchasing, inventory management and/or production control in a manufacturing environment which includes supervising staff and responsibility for ERP/MRP systems;You to be a "US Person" as defined by the US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR controlled technology and data We would really like to see:A hands-on leader - able to interface on the shop floor along with senior leadership and customers equally well;A bias for action - the ability to spontaneously recognize problems and opportunities and the ability to drive problem resolution and follow through to completion;Open and honest communication - develop a work environment in an effort to continuously instill confidence and credibility by actively engaging the workforce;A sense of urgency - lead by example while also exhibiting enthusiasm;An excellent communicator - ensure effective upward and downward communication so that important information is disseminated;APICS certificationOur Commitment:Whippany Actuation Systems is an EqualOpportunity / Affirmative Action Employer.
