Lockheed Martin SPY-1 Field Engineer (Aegis Fleet Support) in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Description: The technician shall provide on-site field engineering and technical support services in support of PEO IWS 1FR Aegis Fleet Readiness waterfront efforts. Technician will perform shipboard fleet technical services for the AN/SPY-1 radar transmitter, antenna and signal processor as well as associated support systems including engineering/technical evaluations, assessments, equipment functional checks, technical assists, troubleshooting/test/analysis and equipment repair, installation, operation, maintenance, and/or connectivity faults for these systems and equipment including interfaces to peripheral, interfaced and support systems. Assist military and Government personnel to analyze and resolve malfunctions detected during equipment operation and testing and perform maintenance including fault isolation, tests, alignments, and repairs on assigned equipment at the organizational level using the ORTS and supporting work package documentation. Leverage preventive and corrective maintenance as training opportunities to develop and enhance US Navy sailor technical proficiency. Work as a team with system engineers, computer program developers, test engineers, technicians, and customer representatives to support Aegis Weapon System (AWS) readiness as required. Support conduct of special tests and investigations. Provide verbal and written reports to leadership and other key functional and program organizations as required. International travel, the ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends is required. Extended underway shipboard technical support periods are required. Overall annual travel approximately 50%.

Desired Skills: Aegis system test, assessment or certification experience; experience working with other MIL-SPEC and COTS equipment/systems including Ballistic Missile Defense Adjunct, Ballistic Missile Defense Signal Processor, Multi-Mission Signal Processor. Familiarity and compliance with the Navy PMS (OPNAVINST 4790.4 series in effect as of November 2013), Fiber Optic Repair technician certification (MIL-STD-2042/MIL-STD-1678) and/or Connection/Wire Wrap certification (MIL-STD-1130C) highly desired.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Complete understanding and considerable experience with the maintenance and operation of USN Aegis Combat/Weapon Systems as an Aegis SPY-1 radar Technician for one of the following AN/SPY-1 radar variants A/B/B(V)/D/D(V); must possess a good digital background with a working knowledge of general-purpose test equipment, software diagnostic tools, computers and computer programs; candidate must also possess good interpersonal skills (both for written and oral communications); and be capable of working independently or as part of a team.
