As part of the Client Project Management team in TELUS Business Solutions East, Managed IT Services (MITS), the Client Project Manager II (CPM II) will be responsible for managing the implementation of leading edge Information Technology (IT) infrastructure systems voice and data services, and TELUS infrastructure & voice Cloud solutions.. The Client Project Manager II is accountable for planning and successful delivery of mid-sized, strategic client-facing projects and ensures all client commitments are met or exceeded or supporting other Project & Program Managers deliver medium to large complex, client-facing programs for TELUS’ largest clients in a matrixed environment. Effective management of change order requests, monthly reporting, and IT knowledge will be key competencies for success in this role.
Key responsibilities include coordinating activities of the project teams, identifying appropriate resourcing requirements, developing project schedules and project plans to ensure timely delivery within defined scope and budget. The CPM II acts as the primary interface between the client and the internal TELUS teams including sales, service management, operations, etc.
Planning and successful delivery of projects of varied technology, size, scope and complexity
Engage team members to build the project plan and schedule
Analyze project risk, prepare and execute risk management strategies
Manage project activities, schedule, budget and resources
Monitor, track, and report project progress to stakeholders
Proactively manage change and creatively resolve issues
Promote collaborative teamwork and cross team cooperation
Build and maintain business relationships with clients; manage client expectations during project lifecycle; earn very good/excellent ratings on client satisfaction surveys
Gain a solid knowledge of TELUS integrated solutions and implementation processes
Manage all aspects of one or several parallel projects over the entire project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close)
Apply project management principles and processes in accordance with the Project Management Institute (PMI) - Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) & TELUS PM methodology
You’re the missing piece of the puzzle
TELUS IDC & IT knowledge; overall knowledge of telecommunications products
Knowledge of the change management process; change practitioner and leader
Thorough understanding of Project Management (PM) methodologies, principles and practices
Knowledge of PM principles, processes and tools
Ability to drive cross functional resources to deliver TELUS solutions to the external client; ability to gather and understand client requirements; ability to negotiate, communicate, influence
Comfortable interacting with vendors, clients, internal teams
Ability to seek creative and innovative ways to deliver client solutions
Strong presentation, oral and written communications skills
Strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn
Ability to thrive in an ever-changing, fast paced environment
Demonstrated facilitation and organizational skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Outlook
Must have sound knowledge of converged telecommunications solutions as related to wireless/wireline data, voice, IP, and IT Cloud Computing
Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel
Formal project management training is an asset
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) training is an asset
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification path started
Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a client-facing role or internal role
Experience managing projects throughout the project life cycle
Track record for executing and delivering on objectives; previous experience managing change orders is a must
Knowledge of TELUS processes and procedures is an asset
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Management consulting experience
Knowledge of application & infrastructure architectures
Knowledge of TELUS wireline and/or wireless products and supporting fulfillment processes
Security Clearance: Candidates must have a minimum level of Government of Canada Enhanced Reliability or be eligible to obtain this security clearance
Experience with public sector clients is desirable
