Senior IT Manager Direct to Consumer and Retail
MAIN JOB PURPOSE:
On any given day, two billion people use Unilever products to look good, feel good and get more out of life.
For a number of Unilever’s iconic brands, ‘multi-channel’ retailing or the ability to offer a seamless, innovative and unified customer experience across physical stores and digital channels (online) is becoming increasingly important.
Ownership of physical stores enables brands to own the full end-to-end experience with the consumer and shopper. Where possible, the addition of online deepens our relationship with the customer and offer an even more personalised experience. Physical retail also provides an important new revenue stream for Unilever at superior margin to our core business.
There are two key teams responsible for driving growth in new routes to market;
Global Retail Operations – supports the Unilever retail brands as they expand; providing training, tools and technology and ensuring best practices are shared and reapplied. Unilever currently has 1200 retail stores in 35 countries with the ambition is to add new brands and expand the total number of stores significantly by 2020.
Global eCommerce Channel team – responsible for driving Unilever’s fastest growing channel ( 25% of Unilever’s Global growth). The Global team supports markets, categories and business units to drive eCommerce sales through existing partners and market-places as well as unlocking new customers, markets and business models.
This role is within the Global Customer Development IT Innovation team and is responsible for partnering the Global eCommerce and Global Retail Operations teams and the end-to-end delivery of solutions that drive growth of the respective channels.
It includes a mix of new technology scouting and implementation required for retail stores, support for an ambitious store opening agenda, review of existing technologies and models, relevant data and reporting strategy and tooling plus a Retail ERP implementation.
Deep understanding of business requirements, across all brands
Project and programme management, delivery, reporting, budgeting, following Unilever project management methodology
Manage project plan, budget, risks, issues and action logs
Chair implementation boards, DA etc.
Develop cutover plans with the business
Manage the creation of business case (and other gate documents where required) and ensure budget and benefits tracking are in place
Product management of the capability funnel
Build a strong connection between eCommerce / GRO and the relevant ETS platform teams to ensure we are developing and leveraging core solutions and partnerships for Retail
Change management and communications for all projects
Stakeholder management and business partnering of Global Retail team, brands and all impacted functions (e.g. Supply Chain, Finance, eCommerce, Legal)
Creating retail IT solutions, develop a shared, Unilever retail ‘blueprint’
In-Store technology – to benefits the consumer and Unilever retail brands e.g.
Modern POS solutions
In-store payment processing
Digital signage, virtual reality, new methods of customer interaction
Heatmapping/ footfall cameras
Back office systems - to help modernise, streamline the way our retail brands operate
ERP; buying, merchandising, logistics, finance
HR; staff scheduling, time & attendance, training, learning systems
Reporting; enabling store managers to see real-time stock levels etc.
BI & Data Warehouse; supporting live sales & performance dashboards
Contact centre solutions
Drive new technologies, innovations which will provide business value
Identify, compare & contrast and select new technology partners
Build and lead high performance project teams
Managing and building relationships with vendors
Work in close partnership with the vendors to ensure on-time and on-budget execution of application changes for all key projects and programs.
Hold implementation partners and internal delivery teams accountable to on-time delivery
Project, programme and change management
Knowledge of direct to consumer Retail and/or eCommerce process and FMCG Domain
Strong business partnering / stakeholder management skills
Good Analytical Skills.
Supplier selection and management
Retail ERP delivery -project, technical or process
experience defining/managing technology in retail stores
Working in Global teams with direct reports based in different countries
