Fresenius Medical Care North America Failure Analysis Technician II in Concord, California

PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

Responsible for investigating the quality and durability of components used in devices manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care. Failure analysis consists of components level investigation on parts and assemblies used during production of new devices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under general supervision, follows established company policies and procedures and applies acquired job skills to identify and research component failures to improve product quality and reliability.

  • Define failure analysis strategy, and recommend corrective actions/fixes to internal customers.

  • Develop innovative techniques and approaches to accelerate failure identification and mechanism understanding.

  • Enter each complaint part and investigation results onto a lab-book, a final report, and the failure analysis database.

  • May provide assistance to junior staff with more general support tasks that require a better understanding of functions, as directed by immediate supervisor.

  • May refer to senior staff for assistance with higher level problems that may arise.

  • Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.

  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION :

High School Diploma required; Associates Degree in Electrical / Mechanical or related technical field strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • 1 – 2 years’ related experience.

  • Ability to perform component level troubleshooting with general supervision.

  • Ability to work on more than one type of machine.

  • Ability to read and understand schematics and assembly drawings.

  • Good understanding of mechanics.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledgeable in structured problem solving.

  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized.

ADDENDUM:

Production/Failure Analysis focus

  • Ability to perform electro-mechanical troubleshooting methods and apply failure analysis methodology to diagnose device failures.

  • Partners with Quality Systems personnel and responsible for driving continuous improvement on effective Complaints as a core Quality Business process/function(s).

  • Utilizes Quality System to ensure Complaint system is successful and compliant / Risk Management / design control process.

  • Understand DHF/DMR documents.
