As an Associate Director, HCP Marketing (Respiratory- Inhaled) in Wilmington, DE, you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca and Medimmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.
AstraZeneca holds a unique position in respiratory disease, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), with a range of differentiated potential medicines in development by leveraging novel combinations, biologics and devices. The pipeline also has a number of promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases within areas such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis
The Associate Director, HCP Marketing contributes to the development of marketing plans to maximize the value of AstraZeneca's medicines. The open position will primarily support the marketing efforts for SYMBICORT, a priority growth brand in the Respiratory franchise, with a focus on HCP marketing efforts across personal promotion, non-personal promotion and scientific communications. The Associate Director contributes to the development of the brand strategy with a specific focus on a customer-centric marketing that engages and motivates our providers to action.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the development of strategic plans to maximize the value of AstraZeneca's Respiratory pipeline.
Responsibilities include input into the development of all aspects of the brand strategy, with specific focus on HCP marketing including opportunity assessment, positioning, and launch planning.
Identifies and deploys integrated multi-channel marketing mix that leverages both novel and traditional channels to reach our customers and retain them for the long term
Partners with cross-functional partners to craft and execute Brand Strategy, relating to: Market Research/Insight and analytics, Brand positioning and messaging, Integrated launch plans, and Forecasting and P&L development
Establish strong alliance with US Medical, Regulatory and Payer partners, providing input to cross-functional planning and programs
Work effectively to build HCP programs and incorporating brand messaging across all stakeholder groups
Responsible for leading defined work streams and brand opportunities as defined by Senior Director, with accountability for end product.
The Associate Director will work with the Marketing Director / Senior Marketing Director on the following areas of brand strategic planning:
Portfolio Strategy and Prioritization -- Portfolio and product opportunity analysis
Opportunity assessments -- Use analytical data sources and an understanding of market dynamics to make strong investment decisions to accelerate launch trajectory
Product Strategy Development -- Input to Product Strategic Plan, based on clear customer insights and robust market analysis
Business Policy and Compliance -- Understand how to operate and adhere to policy within the regulatory environment with the goal of maximizing product opportunity.
Customer Insight – Gather insights on consumer/patient behavior that lead to opportunities for creating competitive advantage and support the needs of our patients in a meaningful way
Key Performance Indicators - Analyze and interpret brand opportunities on key performance indicators and providing insightful tactics on how to maximize KPIs in launch preparation
Project Management - Organize people, activities, communication & resources around a common goal and to achieve business objectives in a timely manner
Advocacy Management -- Create sustainable, long-term relationships with thought leader advocates and patient advocacy groups and develop a thought leader influence map.
Vendor/Agency Management - Manage relationships with agencies, consultants, and other third party groups to maximize the product opportunity.

Bachelor's Degree required; preferably in business, marketing or the biological sciences
5+ years of Pharmaceutical or Healthcare experience; preferably in a related industry
3+ years of Pharmaceutical Marketing and Promotions experience
Leadership capability and team management skills
Experience developing brand strategy and executing against it
Experience managing complex projects at the project management level
Successful delivery of individual strategic and operational plans within a therapeutic or business area
Advanced Degree in business, marketing, or the biological sciences
Pharmaceutical sales and sales management experience
Breadth of experiences across different functions
Experience in Market access/managed markets
Experience in Insight/Market Research
Experience across product life cycle (emerging, launch, in-line, mature)
Experience related to therapeutic area
