Amazon seeks an individual to be part of a centralized enterprise risk and regulatory compliance team.
Amazon has a diverse set of global businesses, and each business has some level of compliance requirements across multiple areas, including Payments, Trade, Human Resources, Tax, Social Responsibility, and others. This team will ensure that an effective program is in place to validate each business has identified their regulatory responsibilities and established effective processes, controls and self-testing to understand current status of compliance and identify gaps. This team may also assist in risk ranking and mitigation of gaps identified throughout the organization.
The Sanctions Compliance Specialist will be supporting and working with the Enterprise Risk Compliance Officer, the Enterprise Risk Compliance Investigator team, management, internal businesses and legal on the risk mitigation, screening, controls and compliance program. Will assist in the continued and further development, implementation, sustainability, and enhancements of the Sanctions and OFAC Program (“Program”) for all jurisdictions where Amazon operates. The Sanctions Compliance Specialist will serve as an SME regarding sanctions and risk compliance; and will work closely with different Amazon businesses to ensure and track the effectiveness of the Program to comply with the various US and international sanctions rules and regulations.
Key responsibilities of the position are:
Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance internal stakeholders, the Transactions Risk Management Services operations team and internal businesses regarding compliance requirements.
Develop and provide training to varying levels on sanction rules and regulations.
Identify regulatory compliance risks/concerns and make suggestions and/or take corrective actions to implement solutions to improve controls/operations.
Responsible for providing sound compliance advice to businesses on resolution of issues, and for escalation of issues within compliance management and Legal.
Prepare reports to on a timely basis of all relevant compliance issues through periodic reports as well as escalating any key or high risk compliance issues.
Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and remediate operational risks undermining sanctions compliance programs.
Ability to identify situations that may pose significant compliance risk and guide management in the development/reviewing of applicable policies, procedures and business practices.
Clearly and timely communicate findings, determinations and recommendations to compliance management and Legal with respect to escalated key or high risk compliance issues.
Bachelor’s Degree or Law Degree
3-5 years of experience in regulatory and compliance environment, a regulatory agency, risk management or other internal control functions (Trade Compliance, Banking, Law firm) within a complex international organization.
Demonstrated knowledge of OFAC compliance requirements and experience managing a compliance function or sanctions screening systems for a corporation, law firm, trade compliance function, payments, money transmitter or banking industry
Written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate at the executive level, ability to translate concepts into clear steps and communicate to stakeholders at all levels.

This person must also appreciate the legal, compliance, and financial context of their work and display appropriate sensitivity to the confidential nature of the work.
A second non-English language, along with the ability to compose grammatically correct, concise and accurate written responses in that language is desirable but not required.
