Sharp HealthCare Planning and Community Benefit Analyst in San Diego, California

Summary

The Planning and Community Benefit Analyst is primarily responsible for providing market research, analysis, and support related to strategy development, decision support, and/or business planning for Sharp HealthCare. Additionally, the incumbent will occasionally support activities related to the annual Community Benefit Plan and triennial Community Health Needs Assessments.

The mission of Sharp HealthCare’s Strategic Planning department is to provide timely, accurate, and compelling market intelligence and analysis in support of Sharp HealthCare’s strategic initiatives. The department takes a system approach to all projects, but in the course of its work, serves customers at all levels of the organization, from all system entities. The incumbent will be exposed to other functions that reside within the Strategic Planning department, such as Community Benefit Planning and Reporting. We work in a fast-paced environment that encourages learning, innovation, and teamwork.

Sharp System Services have campuses located in the communities of Kearny Mesa and Serra Mesa and consist of the Spectrum location, the Ruffin Road location and Sharp Operations Center (SOC). These offices provide the centralized integrated system support services to the operating entities within the system. These services include: Strategic Planning, Business Development, Information Technology, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Risk Management and Insurance, Contracts, Human Resources, Facilities Management and Development, Clinical Effectiveness, Finance, Nursing, Systems Supply Chain Services, Marketing and Communications, The Sharp Experience and Sharp University.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of six (6) months of prior health care planning experience and functional knowledge of health system-based health care and managed care

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, managing, and utilizing databases, especially through the use of Microsoft® Access©

  • Demonstrated competence in translating complex data into simple written and graphic presentations

  • Well-developed quantitative and modeling skills

  • High level problem solving and complex scenario thinking skills

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Master of Health Administration, Public Health M.B.A., or similar

  • Experience in California and/or highly managed care environment

  • Familiarity with health care business planning, California community benefit reporting, and community health needs assessment development and reporting
