We have a 1 month contract opportunity for an Enterprise Backup Administrator in Sacramento, CA.
Provides support for all enterprise backup servers and libraries. Ensures optimum performance and system availability of the backup infrastructure.
Responsible for all backup and restore operations including management and monitoring of the backup, recovery, and restore policies and procedures.
Required Skillsets (all requirements must be met to be considered):
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including written communication skills specific to system administration, configuration and documentation.
Excellent organization, interpersonal and priority management skills including technology presentation skills.
Automation and scripting skills.
Identify, analyze, document and resolve issues and problems.
Interface with Systems Engineers and DBAs EF for resolution of backup issues.
Thorough understanding of the following: OS/hardware devices Sun Solaris, Windows technology; Spectra Logic Automated Tape Libraries, Netapp storage systems and Virtual Tape Libraries, VmWare and MS Exchange specific backup and restore solutions.
Excellent understanding of networking and server environments.
Provides enterprise backup administration for the Symantec Veritas Netbackup backup application and the Netapp OSSV backup solution. (50%)
Installs, configures, and manages backup servers including backup/restoration, configuration, installation, capacity planning, troubleshooting, performance tuning and overall system administration functions. (15%)
- Performs random weekly restores as assigned by the Data Center Manager.
Manages all backup related activities to achieve maximum availability for all backup environments. (15%)
Provides planning and resolution of software/hardware problems 24/7 with backup environments.
Analyzes business needs to determine appropriate backup requirements.
Ensures all installed software in the backup environment is maintained and up to date with the latest releases for continued support.
Documents procedures on installing and configuring backup requests. (5%)
Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures need change and where new policies and procedures need to be developed.
Develops and maintains backup/recovery standard operating policies and procedures.
Plans, designs, and implements new enterprise backup solutions that meet system maintenance schedules and recovery time objectives. (5%)
- Researches and evaluates new tools and technologies to enhance backup/recovery processes.
Assists in the disaster recovery planning process to ensure back/recovery solutions meet recovery time objectives. (5%)
Reports on status of backup environment. (5%)
- Documents all changes to the backup environment and follows the Division Change Management process when requesting changes.
Associates Degree - Required (or equivalent education/experience)
Bachelor's Degree - Highly Desired
Backup administration with Symantec Veritas Netbackup and Netapp OSSV and disk management framework, including performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting and throughput analysis, media handling, Shared Storage Option (SSO) and Vaulting experience as would typically be acquired in 3 to 5 years.
REQUIRED 3-5 YEARS
Experience installing server/client software for NetBackup and Netapp OSSV including software releases, updates, and patches. REQUIRED
Healthcare information technology industry experience. HIGHLY DESIRED
