Job Title: Intellectual Property Advisor Expert

Location: Newtown Square, PA

Purpose and Objective: SAP Labs, LLC seeks an Intellectual Property Advisor Expert at our Newtown Square, PA location to focus on providing legal counsel and solutions to the company's LOB's and internal functions.

Expectations and Tasks: Senior IP Advisors having a technical focus in the Patent practice area will be expected to: Act as a patent portfolio manager by supervising the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. Prepare patent applications and responses to office actions. Conduct patentability searches. Act as a technical liaison between the Global IP team and SAP development groups. Senior IP Advisors in other practice areas will be expected to:provide legal services, training and legal counsel to internal business clients. Manage assigned projects with regard to topics in the functional area or cross functional topics. Participates as a senior member of cross functional teams providing legal counsel to assigned LOBs and practice areas. Negotiate, manage and draft IP licensing and transfer agreements, notices, letters and other legal documents required in the respective practice area. Prepare business cases, analyze data and propose IP/litigation strategies based on the business requirements. Manage the overall development of SAP's patent portfolio for assigned business units. Supervise outside counsel. Provide patent-related support to internal clients. 10% travel required.

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Intellectual Property, or a related field and 7 years of experience, or alternatively, a Master's degree and 5 years of experience.

Work Experience: Experience must involve Registration with USPTO or EPO (or alternatively a Master's degree in Intellectual Property if no registration with USPTO or EPO); Advanced technical skills and experience with SAP platform technologies and related technologies such as Cloud Foundry; Technical skills and experience with SAP solutions; experience with cloud and web-based applications, including microservice-based environments; Experience in software development; Analytical skills that enable independent learning of new technologies. 10% travel required.
