New York Community Bank Credit Analyst I in Hicksville, New York
The Credit Analyst I is responsible for performing the credit review and analysis for basic loan applications for various types of income producing properties and construction loans. This includes the review of financial statements, federal tax returns, credit reports, as well as any other required documentation necessary for determining adherence to the Bank's established underwriting policies and procedures. Also responsible for analyzing income and expenses for basic multifamily, mixed-use and commercial real estate loan transactions. Regular contact with internal departments and outside brokers and attorneys required.
Performs credit review and analysis for routine loan applications for various types of income producing properties and construction loans. This includes: Financial statement / tax return analysis, an examination of organizational and legal documents for determining managerial capacity, and reviews and determines the acceptability of all other required application documentation as set forth in the Bank's Commercial Credit Policy Manual. Conducts credit investigations to determine acceptable historical character of applicants and principals from available reporting services including: The 3 major credit bureaus, Westlaw database, World-Check database, available internet based sources, current and / or former lenders, and conducts discussions with attorneys, brokers, accountants and applicants. Determines the acceptability of loan applicant based on the credit factors analyzed and within specified limits of authority. Refers more complex applicants to senior level Credit Analyst for decision. Prepares summaries, presents facts, and offers opinions and recommendations concerning the credit-worthiness of applicants to Senior Management. Conducts basic lease review analysis for loans with commercial tenants to ensure terms are in compliance with underwriting requirements. Conducts a comparison analysis of DHCR/Rent Regulation Filings (Filings) with the rent roll to ensure accuracy and conformance with underwriting policies and procedures. In instances of inconsistent information, analyst will review supporting documentation in order to make a determination of acceptability. Conducts an analysis of the rental arrears report in order to identify a potential concern of the actual cash flow and ensure conformance with underwriting policies and procedures. Analyzes income and expenses to ensure accuracy and conformance with underwriting policies and procedures. Communicates credit related issues directly with mortgage brokers and borrowers relative to the property being financed. Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required. Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, finance, accounting, or related area
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of financial analysis techniques and financial principles. Basic knowledge of financial statements. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet searches. Excellent analytical and problem skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Detail oriented. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
