ADP is hiring a Senior Manager, Media and External Communications to work on some key projects for the Canadian market and to provide media relations support to the organization.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Brand and Communications, you will lead the external communications project planning and management for two high-visibility projects. You will work with colleagues in the communications team and across functional lines to deliver strategies and materials that support the needs of product management, product marketing, brand and communications, client services, sales and executive teams. You will also work with our public relations and creative agencies to plan and execute high-profile, market-facing initiatives to generate earned media coverage.

The ideal candidate has a track record of managing external communications campaigns and has experience serving as a brand spokesperson. We're looking for someone who is creative, agile, and comfortable leading complex communications deliverables with multiple stakeholders.


Oversee the strategy and execution of the annual media relations plan.

Create media and external communications plans for product launches and other initiatives.

Work with our agency partners to manage ongoing media and influencer relations, respond to inquiries and track program effectiveness.

Support senior leaders with media counsel and message coaching.

Act as corporate spokesperson as needed.

Identify opportunities to leverage content, news and other initiatives to generate earned media impressions.

With the Senior Product Marketing Manager, develop and execute sales communication programs for new product launches.

Track and report on all communications deliverables to the project team and to senior leadership.

Manage a comprehensive editorial calendar for all external communications.

Balance input from key internal stakeholders across a range of businesses and geographies.

In close consultation with counterparts in the U.S., evaluate and localize U.S. materials as needed.

Collaborate with and gather information from a wide variety of internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, and simplify complex information for a wide variety of audiences.

Participate as a member of the larger project team in Canada and the U.S.

Experience, Skills, Academic


  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field;

  • 6-8 years of media relations experience in a corporate setting.

  • Demonstrated success managing media relations programs and agencies.

  • Experience as a spokesperson for brands or organizations.

  • Experience building and delivering complex external/media communications strategies.

  • Proven capabilities developing clear and compelling content based on target markets.

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to think and communicate clearly, formulate a clear point of view, and create a concise and well-written narrative.

  • Ability to think on your feet and exercise judgment, particularly in narrow time-frames.

  • As part of a cross-functional team, willingness to roll up your sleeves and support colleagues in content creation and internal communications.

  • Sector experience in technology, payroll/HR services/financial services industries is highly preferred.

  • Experience developing creative, effective approaches to difficult communications challenges being mindful of the needs of several different audiences.

  • Experience working within a multi-national company and engaging teams and individuals offsite.

  • Bilingualism an asset.

  • Keenly focused and able to pay painstaking attention to details and develop projects with colleagues in a wide range of locations and job functions.
