The School of Manufacturing and Automation provides practical and applied skills training to meet the needs of Alberta's rapidly growing manufacturing, automation, oil and gas, and service sectors. We are learner-centered and committed to delivering quality curriculum in support of student success.

As the electronics technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of equipment in approximately 14 labs. You will be responsible for collaborating with instructors to design and fabricate classroom demos and trainers, ordering of supplies, capital equipment and maintaning records. You will also

Responsibilities:

  • Test, maintain, clean and calibrate equipment to ensure functionality

  • Configure, trouble-shoot and repair of equipment

  • Collaborate with other technical groups, departments, schools, faculty and students in a friendly, professional and courteous manner

  • Deal with customer service issues and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction

  • Design and fabricate instructor demos and student training aids.

  • Order/Receive supplies, capital equipment, track orders and maintain files.

  • Maintain technician shop, order supplies, maintain records and inventory.

  • Perform safety and equipment inspections of all electrical trades’ labs, report findings and develop action items based upon reports.

  • Supervise sub-trades

  • Perform yearly department wide inventory.

  • Provide updates to clients and reporting issues or deficiencies

  • Other duties as assigned.   

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two year ENT or EET diploma with strong digital electronics background

  • 3-5 years’ experience with repairing, troubleshooting, maintaining electronic equipment

    with some design and fabrication.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Advanced knowledge of power and digital electronics

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical applications

  • Knowledge of fabrication and repair techniques

  • Intermediate knowledge of PC applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, databases

  • Ability to research products via the internet and other sources

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
