Job Summary

The Telesnitsky lab is looking for a part time Lab Attendant to support lab activities.


Duties will include, but are not limited to: washing lab glassware and equipment, autoclaving, proper disposal of biological waste, maintenance and cleaning of lab and office areas, preparing reagents and media, and restocking.

The well-qualified applicant will bereliable and have the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision. Work hours are generally flexible but tasks must be kept up-to-date.

Required Qualifications*

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a university lab setting

  • Good quantitative and problem solving skills

  • Familiarity with common lab equipment such as autoclave, centrifuge, etc.

  • Knowledge of sterile techniques

  • Familiarity with common lab calculations used in making reagents of varying concentrations

  • Familiarity with molecular biology procedures such as gel electrophoresis, enzyme digests, polymerase chain reactions, plasmid isolation and purification, and DNA gel extraction.

Additional knowledge of commonly used biology software and databases is a plus.

Additional Information

The Telesnitsky lab studies the interplay of cellular RNA trafficking and retroviral replication steps, as well as mechanisms of HIV-1 and other retroviruses' genetic variation. We are pioneers in the study of host noncoding RNAs in retroviral biology: performing both work that addresses these RNAs' natural roles in retroviral biology and studies aimed at exploiting viral interactions with these RNAs as the basis of novel antiviral drugs and of therapeutic RNA delivery.

Background Screening
